Gather your picking peeps and submit a video of three songs for consideration. The top three bands selected will perform 15-minute sets Friday night (2/14/2025). Performances will be via a single omni directional mic. The winner will perform a full set Saturday evening (2/15/2025).
To enter, submit a video or videos of three selections: two vocal songs and one instrumental. The music must be all acoustic and bluegrass, folk, or old time oriented. An electric bass is allowed but no percussion unless it can be worn or carried by a performer. Video entries due by November 30, 2024. The top three bands will be notified early January.
All band members performing will be required to purchase either a full festival pass or a Friday only pass for the festival.
The videos submitted should be a link to a YouTube video and submitted to bandcontest@kansasbluegrass.org.
Along with the video, each band needs to provide a 1) contact name, 2) email address and 3) phone number. Band entries will be judged on material selection, general instrumental musicianship, vocal performance, and stage presence.
Winning band receives $250.
